To the Congress of the EEK

Dear Comrades,

We salute with strong sentiments of comradeship and fraternity the 12th National Congress of the EEK, Greek section of the CRFI, and send you the most sincere feelings of solidarity from all members of the DIP, Turkish section of the CRFI. We hope that your congress will pave the way for the furthering of the revolutionary proletarian work that your party has been carrying out in these turbulent times and lay the basis for future success in the construction of the revolutionary vanguard party of the Greek working class.

Greece today is the microcosm and laboratory of the struggle between the bourgeoisie and the proletariat on the world scale. All the main elements that will play the decisive role in the final outcome of the immense crisis that world capitalism is going through are present in bold letters in the Greek situation. The country has been suffering from the most acute forms of the economic crisis that has taken the world economy in its grip. In order to overcome this crisis, the capitalists, under the leadership of the institutions of imperialism, in this case the notorious “troika”, have been implementing a programme that is bound, if carried to its logical conclusion, to bleed the working people to death. The working class and the masses at large have been responding to this attempt with resolved militancy. The historic crisis of proletarian leadership has been expressed in the rise to prominence, as a centre of attraction for the masses, of an utterly reformist coalition of left wing forces, Syriza, which has, furthermore, emitted open signals of coming to terms with EU imperialism on the eve of a possible victory at elections. A right-wing party with unambiguous fascist credentials outpacing all the proto-fascist parties of Europe in its ferocious racism has risen to prominence. These are all traits that are soon to be observed in other countries. Thus Greece shows us the future of Europe and the world.

How fortunate we are that Greece also has a party of bold and resolved militants, armed with the programme of the Fourth International and a clear understanding of the current world and European situation, fighting to win over the vanguard of the working class of the country in order to equip the entire Greek proletariat with the correct understanding of the situation and to take power when the situation is ripe for this! How fortunate that authentic revolutionary Marxism can fight practically for the leadership of the masses in this laboratory of capitalist putrefaction and proletarian militancy! How fortunate we are that, despite avoiding all sectarianism, our Greek comrades of the EEK have stood clearly and unambiguously against and exposed the sophistry, even treachery of Syriza and fought for a revolutionary alternative! We wish our Greek comrades the best in this fight they are leading in the name of us all!

Dear Comrades,

DIP joined the CRFI some time after it was founded because the analysis of the CRFI regarding the world situation and the actuality of revolution coincides with its own analysis. Our position today is very clear. We claim that world capitalism is now going through the Third Great Depression, much like the first at the end of the 19th century and the second of the 1930s. This profound economic crisis determines the whole world situation and puts the power of the international capitalist class in a very fragile situation. The system will certainly look for ways of consolidating its power through counterrevolution, war and fascism, but revolution is now back on the agenda. The Arab revolution, and in particular the victorious political revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt are testimony to this, as well as the pre-revolutionary situation in Greece. Despite the temporary setback of the struggle of the Arab masses and the ascendancy of the Islamic Brotherhood and the likes in the Arab countries, we believe that the whole Mediterranean basin is still a powder keg. After having visited the countries of North Africa and the Levant in 2011, the revolution has now moved to the Mediterranean coast of Europe, where class struggles are the decisive factor that will determine the outcome of the catastrophic economic situation in countries such as Spain, Italy, Portugal, as well as Greece. The Syrian revolution, more and more crowded out by reactionary forces in the pay of imperialism, Arab reaction and Turkey, has given birth to a most unexpected by-product in the form of a new autonomous Kurdish region in Syria, but this time not under the influence of imperialism, as is the case of Iraqi Kurdistan, but on the contrary to a great extent outside its reach. Thus, overall, the Mediterranean basin is currently the centre of gravity of world revolution. What happens in Greece, Spain and Italy will most likely determine the immediate future of struggles all around the world.

The CRFI, although not present in more than a dozen countries, exists and is fighting in some of the most centrally placed countries of Europe and the Middle East under the current circumstances. Greece and Italy, the two countries of Europe where the CRFI has sections, are the pacesetters of class struggle on the continent. As for Turkey, this is one of the countries of decisive importance in the Middle East and also the country where the subjugated Kurdish people is waging its strongest struggle for emancipation.

Comrades, we should not miss this opportunity history has generously provided us with! Although not a mass organisation yet with a large number of sections, the CRFI is strategically placed and can play a role in the unfolding struggles of the near future if it handles its forces masterfully and with great care. Let us bring our forces together and throw all our weight into this fight, which may in all probability prove to be the “last fight” sung by our common anthem, the Internationale.

Long live the EEK and the struggle of the Greek proletariat against the Troika and its Greek stooges!

Long live the fraternity of the Greek and Turkish peoples!

Forward for the fighting unity and the victorious revolution of the peoples of the Mediterranean!

Long live the Socialist Federation of the Balkans and that of the Middle East!

Down with the imperialist EU!

Long live the United Socialist States of Europe!

Long live the Fourth International!

Long live world revolution!

Ζήτω η Τέταρτη Διεθνής!

Ζήτω η παγκόσμια επανάσταση!
